International Day of Education: The Emerging Digital Divide

With the International Day of Education this 24th of January, it's a good time to reflect on one of the most challenging years for providing this most fundamental of human rights. The coronavirus has had detrimental consequences worldwide across all aspects of society and has served to reinforce pre-existing inequalities. Its impact on education has been constantly in the spotlight throughout, though the focus has remained broadly level for all students no matter the educational background. Yet the fallout from the transition to an online learning experience has brought one specific inequality to the fore. The need to recognise the growing "digital divide".

Covid-19: Encouraging Signs Behind the Headlines in India

The Covid-19 Global Pandemic struck a world in which only 50% of the inhabitants have access to essential health services. No matter what processes were put in place to try and mitigate the effects of the virus, no models were ever likely to be deemed a success, though it has become increasingly clear that some international efforts were more prudent than others. Yet in many countries around the globe those efforts were necessarily underpinned by an unsung army of community groups and NGOs, putting their own health at risk to ensure the most vulnerable were not left even farther behind.

International Day of Rural Women

"Rural women are key agents for achieving the transformational economic, environmental and social changes required for sustainable development" say UN Women

This year on the International Day of Rural Women, we recognise that across the globe, women lead the way with solutions and solidarity in the wake of Covid-19. This day was created to recognise the centrality of rural women in community development and regeneration, which in today's climate has become increasingly important. This year, the theme comprises 'Building rural women's resilience in the wake of COVID-19'.

CDV Global will help you take important steps to create a CSR programme that benefits both the company and communities on a global scale.

The Benefits of a CDV Global Membership

Today many online services have a membership or paid subscription-based model. News Portals often use them to subsidise their profits, making up for loss of revenue from decreasing physical paper sales. Recruitment sites use membership as a way of tailoring a member's job search requirements using filters. All websites that ask you to register use the information provided for marketing purposes, which depending on the content the member may or may not find of interest. But the best companies don't just use their membership base to sell… they use it to inform.

International Small Business Day

This Saturday 27th June is International Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day, recognising the vital role played by MSMEs or small businesses across the globe. Not just in emerging nations, but in towns and cities in every country, even yours. From an artisanal baker in a small Yorkshire village to a tailor in a shack on the edge of Nairobi; a sustainable farmer in Peru to a handicraft artist in India, these businesses are the lifeblood of every community. Though small businesses may seem like an unlikely topic for an International Day, in fact we should be celebrating these companies and the people behind them, especially now.

Sustainable Volunteering

GLOBALLY SKILLED. LOCALLY ROOTED.

The terms 'sustainable' and 'volunteering' mean many things to many people, they are terms thrown around by travellers in modern culture with an air of superiority and confidence.

But what does high impact sustainable volunteering look like? What should it epitomise? And why does it matter anyway?
